Every moment of your life, every decision you’ve made has lead you here, just as it did I. I’ve weathered the storms and kept moving forward to advance this industry. My goal since I started my company in 2004 was to build a studio that reflected who I am as an artisan and craftsman. Once I started teaching the first workshops on GFRC in 2005 my aspiration evolved to building a studio that was as conducive to training as it was to client work.
For the last two years I have been laboring away in the Ozark Mountains, handcrafting my new space piece by piece, so I could hold this workshop for you. I am proud to announce that the first ever classes to be held in the new location have been scheduled, and we are naming this inaugural occasion the ‘Inception Training Event.’ ’Inception’ is defined as the establishment or starting point of an institution or activity, a most fitting epithet for this affair.
Attending this special training event gives you access to the following three workshops, being held in succession, November 5-11, 2017:
Sunday, November 5th - Tuesday, November 7th, 2017
Instructor: Brandon Gore
This class is the gold standard for learning how to craft the worlds finest fabric-formed molds, and subsequently cast and finish GFRC. I taught the first class on GFRC more than a decade ago, I taught the first workshop and developed many of the techniques for Fabric-Forming. Forgive me if I sound boastful, but I feel that if you want the best you go to the source, the originators, the experts. All other training on these subjects are imitations at best, they lack resolution and results. I teach what I do for a living, I don’t teach for a living, and that is an important distinction that speaks volumes.
This workshop will be a full day on Sunday and Monday, and will conclude on Tuesday around noon. Jon Schuler will begin his ‘Upright Casting Workshop for Sinks’ early afternoon on Tuesday.
Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 - Thursday, November 9th, 2017
Instructor: Jon Schuler
Hand-tooled finishes are becoming all the rage with designers these days, just flip through any interior design magazine on a newsstand and you'll see countless articles and inspiration photos of beautifully imperfect surfaces. Jon Schuler, the genius behind the mix designs and sealers we employ, is a master of the complex art that is ‘upright casting.’ Jon will walk you through the process of making two high-end sinks by hand, devoid of conventional sink molds, resulting in one-of-a-kind sinks that are at home in a countryside villa in France, or a minimalistic mansion in the Hamptons. An added benefit of this style of casting is the ability to efficiently work in a small space without the need for a water-polishing area.
Friday, November 10th, 2017 - Saturday, November 11th, 2017
Instructor: Brandon Gore
It will have been exactly 1 year since the last time we held this well-received workshop. Furniture design is a topic of interest to many makers and craftspeople. This is a fast-paced exploratory class that condenses years of lessons learned through trial and error into one and a half days. Consider this a Master Class in the thought processes and considerations of designing and manufacturing furniture. There will be success and there will be failure, but in the end all of the experiences will contain lessons that are worth far more than the price of admission.
These workshops are scheduled to make it as easy as possible for you to travel and take time off. Veterans Day is Saturday, November 11th, which means there is a good chance you will already have Friday the 10th off. This only requires four days of vacation time for 7 days of training, with travel on the weekends. Efficiency at its finest.
The best value from all angles is to attend all three workshops, aka the ‘Inception Training Event.’ We are offering special discounted pricing for the workshop package, and when you factor in the savings on travel expenses vs. attending multiple workshops on different dates, well, math doesn't lie.
